On the condolences book in connection with the death of Mikhail Gorbachev
On September 5, the condolences book in connection with the death of the former President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev was opened in the Consulate General of Russia in Karachi. The Heads of the consular missions of Qatar, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Acting Consul General of Kuwait, and First Secretary of the Consulate General of Oman expressed their condolences. Consul General of Japan also sent a letter with condolences.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement on the explosion in Kabul
On September 5, at 10:50 am Kabul time, an unidentified terrorist activated an explosive device in the direct vicinity of the entrance to the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Kabul. The explosion killed two employees of the diplomatic mission; there are casualties among citizens of Afghanistan as well.
The Russian Embassy is in close contact with Afghanistan’s security services, which are conducting an investigation.
