On May 10 a "Garden of Memory" event was organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture at the Federal Urdu University campus on the occasion of Victory Day.

Consul General of the Russian Federation in Karachi Mr. Andrey Fedorov planted saplings in honour of the Soviet people fallen during World War II.

On May 9 on the occasion of Victory Day the Immortal Regiment march was organized by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Karachi. Diplomats and employees of the Consular Mission and Russian Trade Representation took part in the rally.

Furthermore, on May 9 a meeting with a flag raising ceremony and a concert on the occasion of the Victory Day were held at the Consulate.

The choir of Russian and Pakistani children also performed the English version of the song "Katyusha".

Mr. Andrey Fedorov elaborated on the main aspects and historical milestones of the ties between the two countries and answered students' questions.

On April 13, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar, on the sidelines of the fourth Ministerial Meeting of Afghanistan's Neighbouring States, which was held in Samarkand.

The discussion focused on the state of Russian-Pakistani relations, as well as regional and international affairs. The ministers confirmed the focus on strengthening constructive cooperation in the fight against terrorism and discussed the situation in Afghanistan.

The parties also spoke highly of the interaction between Russia and Pakistan in the international arena, including authoritative multilateral venues like the UN and the SCO.

They agreed to further expand cooperation between the two countries.

The President received letters of credence from 17 newly-appointed ambassadors of foreign states. As per tradition, the ceremony took place in the Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
