VISIT OF THE HIGH LEVEL ТRАРЕ DELETATION ТО RUSSIA

JULY 25 — AUGUST 01, 2010

As Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has embarked upon exploring new markets for local products especially to Russia and CIS Region. There is а vast potential of Russian market for Pakistani products especially for Rice, Fresh Fruits and Vegetable, Sea Food, meat, poultry and so on. Unfortunately this potential had not been exploited in the past which is reflected fr om the export figures of just $100 million fr om Pakistan to Russia, These figures are minimal when compared to the total imports of Russia, which is around $190 billion per annum.

In this regard, Pakistan Russia Business Forum (PRBF) had а Series of many meetings with Syed Mohibullah Shah, СЕ — TDAP and other high level officials of the TDAP for sending а delegation to Russia.

In response, TDAP planned а very high level business delegation to different parts of Russia comprising of leading businessmen with diversified background .In this regard Mr.Shahid Latif Khan, DG-TDAP, and Mr. Illyas Ghori (Minister Trade — Embassy of Pakistan in Моsсоw ) checked out а very comprehensive scheduled of meetings to be held in different parts of Russia including Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Saints Petersburg. The delegation visited Russia with effect from 25' July to 30'" July 2010.                                                                                                                          

DАY 1: 25' July 2010

• Arrival of delegation

• Mr.Illyas Ghori, Minster (Trade) Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow, received the delegation at Moscow Air port alongwith other officials of the Embassy.
Just after Checking-in at the hotel Mr.Ghori took the delegation for а dinner
Mr.Ghori briefed the delegates about the planned — programme, and handed over
the complete itinerary alongwith the local Airlines Tickets and а little brief about
the Russian Economy to all the delegates.

• After а little deliberation, Mr.Tariq Rafi, а prominent businessman was
nominated as the leader of the delegation as chairman TDAP could not соmе.

DAY 2: 26 "July 2010

   Meeting with the management of the “ Tashir Group” Russia at their Head Office, they are engaged in the Banking   and Investment sector, they organized a visit of the warehousing and export marketing faciliti in Moskow City.

   In the meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Mr.Tarig Rafi, the leader of the delegation briefed the participants about state of affais in Pakistan Economy. The delegates discuss various matters in improve bilateral relationshin between Pakistan and Russia, this chamber is said to be one of the richest Chamber of the World. PRBF offered their services to Russian Counter Parts for stabling contacts and hold exhibition in Pakistan.

• 1п the Evening, Ambassador of Pakistan His Excellency Mr. Khalid Khattak hosted а dinner in honor of the delegation wh ere other Russian officials and
Pakistan Business community in Moscow were also present.                                                 

DAY 3: 27" July 2010

Meeting with the External Economic and International Relations Department of Government of Moscow City in which the official of the city government assured
the delegation that they will fully support the Pakistani companies to set-up their
business in Moscow City. Meeting with the management of М/s Concern Monarkh. Monarkh is а leading company in Building and Construction with an annual turn over of 550 Million US dollar. The Potential of Cement Export from Pakistan was also iscussed; they had also shown interest in outsourcing the construction to Pakistani Companies and import of manpower from Pakistan. Meeting with the management of Euro Khim Group (Ferti1izer), they are the
largest Fertilizer Company in Russia; they are already dealing in Pakistan with
many companies and regularly participate in TRADING CORPORATION OF
PAKISTAN (TCP).
Visit of MONOLIT and Textile Profi was а unique practical experience, they are
the largest importer of fabric from different countries including Pakistan to
Russia, and they have got а very positive image about Pakistan and visits Pakistan
regularly. The delegates were very impressed by visiting the ware housing facility
along with а chain оf wholesale outlets adjustment to the warehousing facility.
Dinner was also hosted by the President, Mr. Sargey N. Lukiyanov, and
management of the Group
After having had the dinner the delegation proceeds to Yekaterinburg                          

DAY 4: 28'" July 2010

Mr. Ghori (Minister Trade) organized very fruitful meetings with the chamber of
commerce and industry of Yekaterinburg, the chamber also organized В2В match
making meetings for the delegates alongwith their counterparts wh ere prominent
business community of the said city participated.

delegates were very happy and thankful for organizing мс fruitful meetings.          

DAY 4: 29 ' Julv 2010

• Travel to КАZАN—Tatarstan • Meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Industry аnd Trade, thoroughly
discussed the issues of mutuul trade between Pakistan and Tatarstan, the
representattve оf the Truck Plant — КАМАZ (they have joint ( venture with the
Раkistan Company - Ghandra Nissan), KAZAN Helicopter and other prominent
companies оf Tatarstan were also present.
• Bysiness match making meetings at the chamber of commerce and inddustry of the
Republic оf Tatarstan was also organized
• Visit of Techno park (IDEА)

DAY 4: 29' July 2010                                                                                                                  • Travel to Saints Petersburg                                                                                                          

• Meeting with Fxternal Economic аnd International Relations department,
Government of Saints Petersburg city, the delegates discussed mutual points of
interests between Russia and Pakistan, they also invited some renowned business
for match making sessions, they also invited the largest exhibition organizers of
Russia (RUSTЕСН), they showed interest in organizing Pakistani compan s
рarticipation in their exhibitions.
• Меeting with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Saint Peterburg                            

DAY 5: 30'" July 2010                                                                                                             A-very- sophisticated-wагеhоusing-fасility-visit was also organized by Мr. Ghori,
the owners оf the warehouse had given а detailed presentation about the state-of
the-art facilities and systems provided by them, this was again а unique
experience for the delegates Тhis Warehouse is situated at а very рrime location
of Saint Petersburg, very near to the port, motorway аnd linked with the other
northern cities of Russia

Visit of the delegation created an appreciatable goodwill and understanding in Russia, the visit has left a positive impression within the Russian State and Private Organizatiobs. Head of delegation Mr.Tarig Rafi explained in detail about the economical situation in Pakistan and express the willingness of Pakistani Trade community to improve the trade and economical relations between the nations and proposed many concrete ideas in this regard.
The arrangement of the meetings with the Russian Chambers, City Government in
different cities. government оfficials as well as airline tickets and other arrangements
were made by the trade mission of Pakistan in Моscow in an excellent manner. After
attending the meetings. the delegates of TDAP express their complete satisfaction on all the arrangements. All the delegates termed this visit as a great success.                                             TDAP played а key role in arranging the visit оf the delegation to Russia in order tо орen this newг market to exporters, аll the meetings werе held according to the schedule and this visit has proved to be а great success.
